Paulina Kalwarska

Artist

Paulina explores her ideas through a range of art forms, including paper collage, drawing, plaster casting, and found objects.

She is interested in the way the material, form, and colour can trigger a psychological and emotional reaction in her audience, which is why her work takes on an abstract form. She hopes that the absence of the figurative allows a deeper connection to the physicality of her work, allowing viewers to enjoy the colours, shapes, and playful spontaneity of her pieces.

In her studio Paulina will be showing her colourful and expressive abstract pencil drawings as well as her most recent collection of organically shaped plaster of paris sculptures. These explore the elegant bulging forms created by moulding the space between her and her models' palms and fingers.

I am an abstract artist working in a variety of mediums from sculpture, paintings, drawing, print making and more. I am heavily interested in the expressive quality of mark making as well as the interplay between colour, shape and form and their power to evoke strong responses beyond articulation.
